Who Is Bombing Iran
By · CommentsSo, there are some pretty interesting images going around taken from Google Earth
Before on September 9
After November 22
It really does look like someone did a right proper job of bombing the piss out of it.
The thing that strikes me most is that Iran wanted to save face, so they didn’t even admit that it happened. They really are wusses. I mean I’d have thought they would at least whine to the UN about it.
The Banana – The Atheist’s Nightmare
By · Comments
Yes I know it’s old. I hadn’t seen it in awhile, and it still makes me laugh. I just can’t believe the level of stupidity that exists with creationists.
Ray’s own explaination is that it doesn’t work unless there is a live audience. That does a lot to tell me what his audience’s are like. It’s amazing that he says he did this DOZENS of times ahead of making this video. That means maybe a thousand creationists saw it live, and not one of them told him what a dumbass he was being.
I wonder if anyone has ever told old Ray that wild banana’s are sour, have big seeds, and are a lot smaller.
I wrote this email in response to a bit on Mike Broomhead’s radio show. I’ll post any response if I have the permission to, but I thought that it made my position about why I’m opposed to religious displays. So I figured I’d share it here:
You talked about this on your show yesterday and I figured I’d fill you in. Being both a conservative and an atheist we have a lot of common ground. Generally you are pretty reasonable about things. On this one you show that you just don’t get it. I figured I’d try to explain it.
The first thing I need to point out is atheists aren’t a group. There isn’t much we agree on. So I’m sure you will find other atheists who disagree with me. But you were specifically talking about the Freedom From Religion group. I don’t always agree with everything they do, but I do agree with the majority of it. So anyhow, I’m going to talk in general terms that I think most atheists would agree with. I’m certain you’ll find exceptions.
There are generally two reasons we find religious displays ON PUBLIC PROPERTY offensive. The part about it being on public land is the part that generally gets left out, but it is critical. We don’t care if churches put up their silly displays as long as it isn’t costing us anything.
1- The Constitution demands that government not establish any religion. To do that you have to allow all if you allow one. You guys always like to say that there aren’t problems here because no one asks. Well, that’s just not true. I’ll give you a few examples.
In 1992 the Klu Klux Klan demanded to be allowed to erect a cross in Fountain Square, the central point of downtown Cincinnati. I lived there when this was going on. They did it on the grounds that other religious displays were allowed there, and they deserved equal rights. When it went to court they won. So Cincinnati was stuck with this display: http://www.local12.com/news/local/story/Flashback-1992-KKK-Puts-Cross-on-Fountain-Square/OZ6qjAiV70uwOYerR9ZXWQ.cspx
They were also stuck with spending large amounts of money on a police presence to protect it. And since it was a Constitutional violation by the city they also had to pay not only their lawyers, but the Klan’s. Now, not only did they have an offensive display to nearly everyone, the tax payers had to foot the bill for it. The problem is simple, allow one and you have to allow everything.
Atheists have been refused advertising space on city controlled properties several times where ads from churches were allowed. This is a rather obvious establishment issue. One example is the Central Arkansas Transit Authority who refused to allow the ads, even after contracting to do so. Of course this ended up costing the taxpayers more in the suit that followed than the ad was going to generate revenue. There was an injunction issued almost immediately because the Judge felt that it was clear cut and the atheists would prevail. It’s still in court, but these things always have the same outcome. The city winds up paying both sets of lawyers and losing. As a conservative you ought to be upset at the waste of tax dollars on something that a first year law student would know was a losing case. Personally I find the ads to be mostly pointless, but the refusal by a government agency of one over another is a very obvious violation of the Constitution. I could probably come up with a half dozen examples where this exact thing has been to court and the outcome is the same. Atheist groups can afford to defend it because they always win and the government is always ordered to pay the attorney fees.
– My side note here is that even private groups make the refusal. There isn’t the same legal ground to challenge that, but it does point out that religion is afraid to have counter messages. When there is a refusal the atheist group makes more of a point than when there isn’t.
2- The act of allowing any display on public ground means spending tax money on religions. At minimum there is clean up and security. But in the cases where the message is controversial the costs can be large. As a conservative I’m always offended when I see tax money wasted.
Your Texas example is a perfect case in point. You liked what the city official said about fighting it. But if they don’t allow the atheist sign too, there is ample case law on the side of the Freedom From Religion Foundation (which is way bigger than just Wisconsin, they are the second biggest group). The city will lose, they will have to put up the sign (or not allow any displays) and they will end up paying the attorney fees for both sides and the cost of guarding the sign. It is a waste of tax dollars, plain and simple. It’s not even a case that the courts will find controversial. The guy talked big, but the reality is he was being a dumbass.
There are ample cases of it with the schools too. They claim they are short on money, but at times waste millions of dollars on defending what everyone knows they are going to lose. It doesn’t make sense. The school boards do it just to make political points, when it has no chance of going anywhere in most cases.

Newt Says Occupy Needs a Job and a Bath
By · CommentsHe recommended the bath first. I don’t think the pro-lice crowd is going to get one the way they are.
I LOVE that the left is spreading this video around. The thing is, most of America thinks exactly what Newt said. They do need a bath, fumigated, and then they need to get a job so they can stop taking off the rest of us. I hope that Think Progress really does think that they make points with this. Because most people are sick of it, and agree.
I am very happy that we have people who aren’t being wusses and are coming right out and saying it. Not saying it is what I don’t like about Mitt.
Michelle Obama Booed at NASCAR
By · CommentsThis really cracked me up. The thing is that everyone was asking if it was appropriate. Hell yes it was appropriate.
These people have been making fun of NASCAR fans for several years. I don’t just mean a little either, they do it openly. They tell you how uneducated this type is. They tell you how they cling to guns and religion.
No damn wonder they got the reception they did. Frankly I can’t believe NASCAR was goofy enough to invite them. I can’t believe they accepted. But most of all, I can’t believe anyone was even mildly surprized at the fact that the crowd didn’t like them.
I posted the video because the NASCAR officials are trying to downplay the reaction. It’s really obvious in the live broadcast. They cheer like crazy for the sniper guy and the other vets. As soon as Michelle is mentioned it gets quiet and the boos start.
I love it. He husband might just as well go home now. The working class, that he has been kissing up to, doesn’t like him anymore.
So Iran Is Thinking About Attacking Shipping.
By · CommentsSo, Iran apparently thinks it’s a fine idea to violently close down shipping in the Gulf.
Iran is contemplating violently shutting down shipping in the Persian Gulf as one of several counterattack options if Israel strikes its nuclear facilities, regional and intelligence analysts say.
Such attacks would present the Obama administration with the option of undertaking a limited war against Iran by striking its warships and shore-based anti-ship missiles to keep the Gulf open for business.
Source: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/nov/14/attack-on-iran-could-risk-gulf-oil-supplies/
Personally that tickles me. I just want to see all their ships on the bottom of the Gulf in like two days. We have the firepower to do that.
Obama will be in a tizzy. He won’t want to get involved, but he really won’t have any choice. It will be fun watching the mental gymnastics.
War With Iran
By · CommentsIn the recent debate, both Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney say that the military option is on the table to keep Iran from gaining nuclear capabilities. I couldn’t agree more.
Romney said that if “crippling sanctions” and other strategies fail, military action would be on the table because it is “unacceptable” for Iran to become a nuclear power.
Gingrich agreed, saying that if “maximum covert operations” and other strategies failed there would be no other choice. First, though, the United States consider “taking out their scientists,” and “breaking up their systems, all of it covertly, all of it deniable,” Gingrich said.
I seriously doubt that most of this is necessary. If Israel knew we’d back them, the would already have done it. The problem would be solved.
But we can not allow Iran to get there no matter what. This wouldn’t take ground troops. We just have to bomb their research facilities. It would be a nearly painless operation for us which makes for an easy decision. I don’t get all the hand wringing over it all. This is a case where we can just make it happen.
Hermain Cain agreed with Ron Paul, which of course means he got it wrong
Ron Paul strongly disagreed with his two rivals, stressing the need to go to Congress before taking military action and saying it isn’t worthwhile to use military force against Iran.
“I’m afraid what’s going on right now is similar to the war propaganda that went on against Iraq,” he said.
Herman Cain also opposed military action against Iran, saying the U.S. should increase sanctions, deploy ballistic missile warships in the region and assist the opposition movement.
There is no reason to sit back and let this go on. We don’t have to do anything even close to what we did in Iraq. Targeting every research site would be simple for us. It wouldn’t cost much at all, and it fixes the problem.
On Joe Paterno’s Firing.
By · Comments
I’m a Penn State alumni. This whole thing sucks.
I always thought that JoePa was a straight shooter. He was something to be proud that Penn State had. I’ve even left it go that he’s not a great coach now that he’s older. He still earned the right to be there as long as he wanted.
That ended abruptly for me.
Apparently, one of his assistant coaches walked in on the former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky having sex with a ten year old boy…in Joe’s locker room. Make no mistake, anything remotely connected with Penn State Football was Joe’s. This wasn’t just horsing around. This wasn’t even just touching. This was full on anal sex.
He didn’t know what to do, so he went to Joe. Joe just referred it up the line to other University officials.
This is NOT what a guy with integrity would do. There is only one acceptable reaction here. You call the police. You don’t need to ask your boss what to do. You don’t need to think about it. You don’t need to sleep on it. You call the police. Joe didn’t. He didn’t even when his bosses did nothing and he had a chance to think about. There are a lot more kids who were victims of this horrible man because they didn’t stop it from happening. So much for Joe being a straight up guy who does the right thing.
I don’t see any way the University Board of Trustees had any choice here. The ONLY thing I would say they have done wrong here is the assistant coach in question wasn’t fired too. He should have called the cops and not even asked Joe. He should have called as fast as he could find a phone. I hope they rectify that over site relatively soon.
I would like to also address the dunderhead students who are protesting the firing. Look morons, other kids got hurt because these guys screwed up. There is no excuse for it. There is no justification. If the cops weren’t involved that very night, they were dead wrong in the most irresponsible way possible.
Yes it sucks. It sucks that the coach in college football who really did have an impeccable reputation couldn’t figure out how to react to something so basic. It sucks realizing that most of what I have bragged about with the Penn State Football program wasn’t actually true. It sucks that the winningest coach in college football has to go out like this. But make no mistake, he HAD to go.
I really was astounded at how accurate this was coming from the Communists.
“If you look at the troubles which happened in European countries, this is purely because of the accumulated troubles of the worn out welfare society. I think the labour laws are outdated. The labour laws induce sloth, indolence, rather than hardworking. The incentive system, is totally out of whack.
“Why should, for instance, within [the] eurozone some member’s people have to work to 65, even longer, whereas in some other countries they are happily retiring at 55, languishing on the beach? This is unfair. The welfare system is good for any society to reduce the gap, to help those who happen to have disadvantages, to enjoy a good life, but a welfare society should not induce people not to work hard.”
Jin Liqun, the supervising chairman of China’s sovereign wealth fund
Sorry guys, they called it. You have way more vacation than Americans. You take off six months when you have babies. You have unemplyment benifits that last the rest of your life.
Then you have the guts to complain that Americans are rich and have it easy. We do have more money. That’s because we work and earn it.
The Greeks are flat ass broke. They have to beg for money. But they also have idiots rioting that they might have to work a 40 hour week, or that they might have to not take as much time off. Get over it. We don’t care, and you ain’t got the money. It’s absolutely a wonder that a communist is more in tune with how it works in the real world than you are.
Darwin Award for the Occupy DC Crowd
By · CommentsSo the protesters are rather in a tizzy that three of them got hit in DC and they were the ones arrested.

Look guys, if you jump out in front of a moving car you are going to get hit. I know, common sense isn’t your strong suit, but it’s pretty basic.
In spite of some of the claims out there, they did just that. No one can figure if they thought the car could stop or they were just insufferably stupid. In this case it could go either way. But this time, unlike the Marine mentioned in a previous post, there were ample non-protesters who witnessed it. They all said the light was green and these morons jumped in front of the car.
I just write it off to evolution. If you are that damn dumb, you deserve to get hit. It’s just too bad he wasn’t going a little faster to kick in natural selection here. Stupid should be painful, and in this case it was.
